dans l'oreille de Neptune
film production
fiction, documentary & underwater filming

History and missions of the association
Etienne Mordier and Eva Mathis met a few years ago on a film set, while working as technicians. They quickly discovered that their visions of cinema were deeply aligned and could flourish even more along a shared path.
Passionate about the camera as a tool, they enjoy searching for an aesthetic, a vocabulary, and a universe.
As certified divers (N4 supervisors) and commercial divers (0-B), they also carry out professional underwater filming, extending their artistic gaze beneath the surface.
In July 2022, they founded dans l’oreille de Neptune, a name inspired by their particular attraction to the sea and underwater landscapes. The association is based in La Valette-du-Var, the region where Eva grew up.
In 2024, the association produced its first fiction short film, De la part de Salvador, shot on a beach in the Var. Through this film, dans l’oreille de Neptune laid the groundwork for its mission: to produce films rooted in an intimate relationship with the living world, on land as well as underwater, and that reconnect us with our humanity.
It advocates for a local cinema in which the creative process becomes a true human adventure.
In 2025, they trained together at the Lussas Documentary School (The Fundamentals of Production), where they met producer Anna Trichet-Laurier, now the association’s president. This encounter aligned with the association’s desire to open itself to documentary filmmaking.
The association is also committed to promoting independent short films by designing and presenting thematic screenings—such as their first one, “Parenthood in Cinema”—in cinemas and cultural venues. These events foster encounters between the audience, the works, and the filmmakers.
Today, dans l’oreille de Neptune continues its cinematic commitment across fiction, documentary, and underwater filming.
